"Your efforts, love, and understanding, often discreetly and without words, and without any expectation or recognition, make an extraordinary difference to the circumstances of individuals," wrote Catherine in a message before the festive gathering. A Steady Comeback The princess has been making her own measured re-emergence to public life subsequent to her illness and medical care, in November making her first public speech for two years, in which she reflected on recognising the "discreet, frequently unseen labour of caregivers". Music and Opportunity Guests arriving at the Abbey will be entertained by young musicians supported by the Future Talent charity, set up with the help of the late Duchess of Kent to broaden opportunities for music lessons. Trumpeter Carys Wood, 18, who performs on the trumpet and is from southwest Wales, has been helped by the charity, with awards contributing to equipment, teaching, and travel fees - and she said it was "amazing" to be performing at tonight's service. "Pursuing music is often costly," Carys said. She is now studying at the renowned conservatoire, and added that "all people deserve the chance" to cultivate their performance abilities. A Family Affair Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who plays the euphonium, will also be at the Abbey. "I never imagined I would perform in front of so many important people," she said. Among the guests will be people from various age groups. That will feature nine-year-old Saphia Turner, recipient of a prize for youthful altruism, who creates and sells art and completes fundraising tasks to raise money for community pantries. Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts The Abbey has been adorned with custom-created holiday decorations, with TV cook Mary Berry and florist Simon Lycett contributing to their design. Taking to the stage will be Katie Melua, the Westminster Abbey choristers and a Cornish sea shanty group, Fisherman's Friends, who said the invitation to sing was "the icing on the cake for us." The festive event titled 'Together at Christmas' will be aired by a major network on Christmas Eve.
